Cruising the canals and rivers of England, Scotland and Wales

Britain has over 2000 miles of navigable waterways. Until the middle of the twentieth century they were trade routes, carrying goods around the country. When roads were poor or non existant they were the most efficient method of transport. However over the last 50 years they have become used almost entirely for leisure and holidays, presenting a relaxed way to see the hidden countryside of the real Britain, away from the motorways and frantic holiday 'hot-spots'.

The waterways vary in character from wide rivers to narrow manmade canals, connecting historic towns and villages but also crossing some of our most beautiful countryside.

Over 200 years they developed a culture and history of their own, unusually much of this has not been destroyed by 'progress'. Cruising these canals and rivers on a skippered hotelboat can carry you back to a place and way of life that was almost lost.
